My Rice Is Going to Nepal

“Mr. Shinkawa, could you give me some rice seeds?”

A friend from Nepal asked me this. They are always very polite in the way they speak.

“Sure. What are you going to do with them?”

“People in Nepal don't know Japanese rice, so I was thinking of sending them some seeds.”

Wonderful.

That was my honest thought.

The rice I have cultivated for ten years may now grow in Nepal. I think that is something quite remarkable.

“Of course.”

I gave him one of the two varieties I have.

It is a relatively hard-grain rice, and its seeds have not yet undergone much crossbreeding.

I decided that this variety would probably be better suited for the purpose than one that has already adapted to the conditions here in Japan.
